Mike Fraser of Mike’s Service Center Joins Douglas Automotive Team
Community Roots and a Passion for Service Bring New Opportunities
With close to 40 years of business ownership Mike Fraser made the decision to close his business Mike’s Service Center, at the end of January. Like all entrepreneurs, Mike made many sacrifices and wore many hats; from sales and service to bookkeeper, property manager and beyond. As business continued through the years, he realized a less hectic schedule would make it easier for him to celebrate the joys of being an active father and grandfather to his growing family. Yet throughout it all, his love of the industry, the customers he served, and the community in which he served made his decision to close a difficult one to make.
Yet as one door closed, another opened.
Upon learning about Mikes business decision and knowing Mikes true dedication to his customers, Doug McAllister, owner of Douglas Automotive began a series of meetings with Mike to discuss the possibility of Mike joining the Douglas Automotive team. When asked about the importance of the meetings, McAllister said: “Mike understands the true meaning behind customer service. He knows that little things matter…a lot. He knows the power of a friendly ear and a sincere, personal greeting. He also knows the importance of being grateful to customers who take the time to support a local business and his dedication to his customers has been outstanding. These are qualities we value here at Douglas Automotive and we are fortunate to now have Mike as part of our customer service team in Crystal Lake”.
Today, Baby Boomers are developing a new mindset and are taking active steps to find an ideal balance as they become older. This presents them with new and engaging ways to stay active while still enjoying a career. “My main concern was for my customers,” stated Fraser. I didn’t want the closing of my service center to be an inconvenience to them. After all, I cared for their cars as much as they did. Joining the Douglas Automotive team gives me the opportunity to have the best of both worlds. I’ll still see my customers and know they are in good hands, while still being able to have the time to be with my family. It’s a win-win,” Fraser said.
“We’re grateful to have Mike on board,” said McAllister. “The automotive repair industry continues to grow as people keep their cars longer. There are careers in this business that can last a lifetime. Mike’s successful reputation is proof of this. He’s going to be a great addition to our team.”
