Time to Get Moving!

Time to Get Moving!

Throughout the past several months, some cars have been sitting for longer than usual. The longer your car sits, the more risk there is of causing permanent damage or unnecessary repair bills. Of course, the age of your car, the condition of your battery, our climate and whether the car is parked indoors or out certainly matters. Here are the benefits of driving your car at least once every two weeks:

  • • Driving keeps the battery charged and prevents the engine and other mechanicals from drying out.
  • • Getting your car out and about at least once every two weeks prevents a dead battery.
  • • Regular driving, rather than simply idling the car, prevents tires from degrading and keeps all moving parts – like the transmission and brakes – well lubricated.
  • • Tires lose pressure over time. If a car sits for too long, the weight of the car will cause flat spots and require you to purchase new tires.

Road Trip Games

Taking a road trip with the kids? Movies and travel apps are great but driving offers the perfect opportunity for kids to use their imagination. Don’t overload on the electronics. It’s amazing to see how children find more imaginative ways to entertain themselves when they start to become bored. Throughout the summer, we’ll be posting an assortment of road trip games to enjoy. If you’ve got some favorites, we hope you’ll share them with us on our facebook page. Here’s our selection for May.

Guess that Song: Play some tunes! On your radio, or your other music device play a selection of tunes. Whoever can shout out the name of the song first, wins. (Don’t forget to cover any screen that may list the name of the song)

Try to Classify: Pick a category (Stores in your town, Basketball team, etc.) and have everyone take a turn naming something in that category until someone gets stumped. Last

Douglas Automotive Welcomes Mike Fraser

Douglas Automotive Welcomes Mike Fraser

Mike Fraser of Mike’s Service Center Joins Douglas Automotive Team

Community Roots and a Passion for Service Bring New Opportunities

With close to 40 years of business ownership Mike Fraser made the decision to close his business Mike’s Service Center, at the end of January. Like all entrepreneurs, Mike made many sacrifices and wore many hats; from sales and service to bookkeeper, property manager and beyond. As business continued through the years, he realized a less hectic schedule would make it easier for him to celebrate the joys of being an active father and grandfather to his growing family. Yet throughout it all, his love of the industry, the customers he served, and the community in which he served made his decision to close a difficult one to make.

Yet as one door closed, another opened.

Enjoy the “Cinderella Era” and enjoy BIG savings in 2020

Keeping your car through the “Cinderella Era” can mean more cash in your pocket.

“The smartest way to get a solid return on your vehicle investment is to keep your car through what the Car Care Council calls the ‘Cinderella Era.’ That’s the period of time after the payoff when your car is still in great shape and needs only modest repairs. Yet with proper care, today’s typical vehicles should deliver at least 200,000 miles of safe, dependable performance, and that’s no fairy tale.

By simply allocating the equivalent of just one new car payment, motorists can cover an entire year’s worth of basic maintenance and live happily ever after with their current vehicle. The most common maintenance procedures and repairs to keep a car operating safely and reliably while maintaining its long-term value involve checking the oil, filters and fluids, the belts and hoses, brakes, tires and air conditioning.
